I injured my knee in Sept. Need MRI. I read where some pacemakers allow MRIs to be done. Do you know what kind?
I had mine about 3 yrs. ago. What can be done other than MRI?

What kind of pacemaker

I'm always amazed to look at a person's bio, see they've had a pacemaker for years but don't know the manufacturer. At least give us that information. Don't necessarily need the model number but the type would help.

Having said that, Medtronic has information on their site about an MRI safe PM.

So a quick query on the Internet to your PM manufacturer will let you know if your PM is MRI compatible. If not, they can offer you guidelines.

Second, advise the doctor's office you have a PM, it may not be MRI compatible, and see what they offer.

My PM type is Medtronic and MRI OK, found that out about the third week I had the PM. So I'm not sure about other options. I'll let others on this forum chime in.

Arthrogram of knee CT

I just had a knee injury. Very unlikely you can get an MRI. I had a 2nd pacemaker 3 years ago, I cannot do MRI. Anyway, I got a arthrogram of the knee. They inject a color dye in your knee and your knee goes into a Cat Scan. It shows any injury you might have. It can be done at a Radiology place. The orthopedic can write a script. Good Luck ....I hate knee injuries !!

You know you're wired when...

Your ICD has a better memory than you.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
