Running for health

Hello everyone it's been about a year since Last visited this site . I have st Jude pm since August 2011. Been doing a lot of jogging and biking. Anyway, I am thinking of doing a half marathon on February. Needed to get some advice from anyone who has experience with long distance runs. Do I need to watch anything? My normal ranges on heart rate while jogging is 125-148. My PM setting is 55 low - 160 high. Any and all advice is appreciated. Tomorrow morning I am doing 9-10 miles.

If you can train and feel great, you can do a marathon! Hydrate and have fun.

Electrolytes

If you're doing that kind of running, be sure to keep your electrolytes in balance. They now have soft candy chews to keep electrolytes in balance while running. Since you have the PM you'll need to pay attention to that.

Happy running.

Have fun with it

Forget about the pm and enjoy your run. I keep a couple of extra GU packets in my spi belt and stop at every water station. On the back of your race bib is a place for medical info, I fill this out just to be on the safe side. Which half are you doing?

Go for it !..2.......................

..............................I'm with Tracey.. If you can do 9-10 then youll breeze it on the day. Don't overtrain so as you don't get injured.

Have you thought of checking with your Doc ?

What 'Half' are you doing...I'll put it in the diary and send some good vibes on the day.

Enjoy !

Well, I did it!!

Last weekend I finished the SurfCity Half Marathon in Huntington Beach, CA. I had two goals: not to be last and to finish in under three hours. I did both!!! Out of 15,000 + runners, there were about 3700 runners behind me. My time was 2:45. I AM HAPPY!! My polar HR monitor kept track of my HR, which averaged about 145 the entire run.

Did not even think about my PM and for sure I was tired, this being my 1st ever Half. After this week of doing NOTHING (trying to recoup), I feel very good. Thanks to those with words of advice.

Those of you who feel the need to run, DO IT!!!

Did I mention I was happy? YUP!!!

You know you're wired when...

You make store alarms beep.
