PM implant on 8-16-11 and things going well! Incision area healing well. I was diagnosed with C.I. or Chronotopic Incompacity which I NEVER heard of before I was told I had it. I could not breath w/ mild exertion and my pulse never rose above 70 BPM. Now, I can walk fast, climb stairs, and other exercise type things and not be SOB and my pulse goes up and then comes down after I am at rest. Medical marvels of technology hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi. Just reading through some previous posts & read yours. I too had chronotropic incompetence (due to sick sinus) & had PM put in last week. Straight away I could walk & climb stairs without feeling ill. Before the PM I struggled to walk, climb stairs or function at all. My HR was dropping to 32. Had these symptoms since my 2nd ablation in June, which damaged my sinus node.
My PM is set at 60 lower & 130 high. Rate response is on & it's fantastic as now my HR goes up on exertion & I just feel normal again.
I hope you get on well with your PM. I agree technology is amazing, & all from a tiny little box.
Best wishes
Janey
Chronotropic incompetence

It has been over a month now 9-16-11 since my PM implant. Today, 9-23, I cut up some logs, carried branches up my drive, tied them up and cut some into kindling.
Found out that I am out of shape. The PM is doing its job, but I have to do mine by working out some more. With CI, I tended to NOT do much as it was tiring, I was SOB, and just did not feel like exerting myself.
My doc said, a week after the implant, "Get back in shape" by the next time I see you in Oct." OK, doc.
I will be going swimming since my incision has finally healed up and will do more exercise.
I now get some SOB, but that is normal, and I am looking forward to a much better quality of life at 70.
3 Months Now

Now at 3 months since insertion of PM for chronotropic incompetence problem.
Incision 100@ healed, which is good. I have some minor pains at times, but that is probably due to the inside healing. I was told that it could take up to 6 months to be fully healed.
I do not worry about what I do, exercise wise, as the doctor gave me NO restrictions now that the incision is healed.
I am actually getting used to the PM, and starting to ignore it unless taking a shower or putting on a tee shirt, whereas it is noticable.
It is working great and I can do things I could not do before I had the PM inserted. At near 70, I feel like a new man now and that is good..........

Your anxiety is normal. It takes some of us a little time to adjust to the new friend. As much as they love you, family and friends without a device just cannot understand the adjustment we go through. That is why this site is so valuable.
