Basis Fitness Tracker

Hi....the Basis band is a watch device that gives more feedback than the FitBit (which I use without issue). Anyone here have this new toy? I'm having difficulty finding out if it's PM compatible.

Thanks!

Here's what they said:

"Thank you for contacting Medtronic requesting additional information about the possible interaction of a Basis fitness tracker with a Medtronic implanted heart device.

The Basis fitnes tracker may interfere with the function of your implanted heart device while the bluetooth is sending data. For this reason, Medtronic recommends you maintain a 6 inch distance between your implanted heart device and the fitness tracker when it is connected with bluetooth.

The fitness tracker must, of course, be in proper working condition and meet current electrical safety standards.

As background, Medtronic heart devices are built with protective shields, so the majority of items you use or come into contact with will not affect the normal operation of your implanted heart device.

If the electromagnetic fields surrounding an item are too close to your heart device and your heart device detected the fields, they may temporarily affect the normal function of your implanted heart device. This same effect may also occur if the item being touched is not in good working order or properly wired, resulting in electrical current flowing into your body.

In either situation, this temporary interference may cause your heart device to deliver a therapy that is not needed or withhold a therapy that is needed. This could result in you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, change in heart rate or, if you have an implanted defibrillator, you may receive a shock.

If you experience any of these symptoms while using an item, simply release whatever you’re holding or move away from it. Your heart device is designed to return to normal operation.

Any temporary effect is unlikely to cause reprogramming or damage to your heart device. Of course, if your symptoms continue or do not improve, Medtronic recommends you contact your doctor as soon as possible.
"

You know you're wired when...

Airport security welcomes you.
