I am 41 living in the Chicago area and am waiting for my current dr. to find a hospital and doctor to do an epicardial total ablation on my sinus node and put in a pacemaker. (I have severe IST).
Has anyone had any similiar experiences?

I'm 23 and I am going in on Monday for an epi for severe IST after 3 completely failed endo ablations in the past 4 months. My resting heart rate is 130 sleeping and about 150-160 during the day with no activity. I have a loop recorder in me so I know that for a fact. I was scheduled for the end of December but my echo is showing that I am in heart failure. They actually called me about an hour ago to tell me they are doing it Monday.
The pacemaker is not always a definite, I was told most don't need one but my risk is higher because of the previous 4.
I live outside of NYC and dr. vivik reedy at mt. sanai is doing it; he is said to be the best of the best in the world. Only a few doctors do them. And there's fewer that do a lot of them. From my understanding there's a lot of risks involved but when you have a surgeon who has done a lot those risks are bare minimum. You might be able to even call them and see if he knows of anybody in your area. All EPs know eachother.
That being said I will try and keep you posted. I wish somebody was able to tell me what to expect.
