icd

Hi: Can someone please tell me how much it is going to cost me to get an ICD. The doctor says 50K but I have part A and B of Medicare, do I still need to pay 10K or should I get supplemental Medicare-I don't even know if Mediacre Supp covers it. They are really confusing me.
Thank you!

& they should be able to answer some of your questions. I just had my PM replaced with Medicare A & B plus a Medigap (suplemental insurance) & as I have me my deductibles I own nothing. The Medicare gap insurances are advertising big time now & if I understand it you may only have until Dec. 7th to sign up. Not sure so you need to check. Also Meicare.gov. is a good website for Medicare. Good luck. Just be sure everybody (& place ) that you use accepts Medicare.

Hope that helps,

Medicare And Pacemakers

Yes Medicare will cover a pacemaker and according to the rules, as I understand them, the amount covered will be 80% of the Medicare approved charge. The catch is what is the approved amount as it will not necessarily be whatever is charged, although it may be. And yes you should get yourself a supplemental policy.

Your best bet for finding out what you will have to pay is start with the dr and see what his charge will be. Then check with the hospital and see what their charge will be. After you get those numbers see if you can get a number from Medicare.

But the hospital should be able to give you the most help.

Meant to say that

I "met" my decuctible. Another source is the SHIP office of your state-they are all listed in the back of your Medicare booklet you get every yr from Medicare.

Yesterday I moved to a new place in my mind and realized how bad I felt 'before' and the difference my pacemaker has made.
