New here Two weeks post op

Hi - I just joined the site - I am 2 weeks post op and the steri strips are still one - will see Dr. on Monday - do they take the strips off or do I have to let them come off on their own - its irritating my skin lol - my pain is gone - some soreness left - can sleep on left side or right - feeling it there is a little weird - I don't like that much lol but otherwise I am doing good. I notice that the incision site is like a ridge - I hope that goes down eventually. any advice appreciated!

Doing fine

Pam it sounds to me like you are right on track recovering from a really minor surgical procedure.

The steri strips like Hurt heart said will fall off or you can take them off if they are like a loose tooth. I have my first PM for almost one month now and am totally healed.

Yes it feels freaky at times and I do have a ridge on my incision but mine was sealed with glue so no strips. I figure the ridge is little price to pay for the safety the PM affords me.

I have lost 8 lbs in the past two weeks because I can exercise again. SO much better than when my HR was 34! Thank goodness we have pacemakers to give us back our lives.

Thank you hutrheart and Peg for your comments. I just eased the end of the steri strips that are bothering my skin up a little - they are not loose at all really but I am hoping lol I go on Monday so hopefully they will remove then. The incision seems healed - I can touch it and no soreness. Sweilling has gone down a lot and the bruising at the pm site is better too. Starting to forget its there - almost lol - yes it is a wonderful thing. The reason I got one is that my heart paused two different times during afib - even though I go months without afib its better to be safe and have the pm in case - I fainted the second time but was in bed so that was good lol can't wait until my first month is up so I can be more active also! thanks again for your comments!

I would take them off

Pam, for sure they are going to take them off on Monday. When I went in the Dr he walked in reached over and rip - off they came. I suggest that you just get in the shower, get them wet and work them off. Unless of course you want the Dr to rip them off :) Wish I would have taken my own off. Good luck it sounds like your recovery is going well.
