Hello, I know this is a minor problem compared to many, but I'd like your opinions on why my stitches are so bothersome. I had my second lead repair on March 15. I feel great and doing well except my stitches are sticking out of the scar and rub against my clothes--this causes irretation and is very uncomfortable. The doctor said they'de dissolve, but they havent. I tried cutting them off with sharp scissors but they won't cut. One broke off this morning and the stubb is still there. They seem to be plastic like the ones attaching price tags to clothes in the stores. Jane

Stitch Removal

Hello Whick,
May I make a suggestion to go along with those good ones you have already received. As Hurtheart said you might try to use sterilized tweezers to remove the stitches, but I would caution you to not pull on those on which you meet resistance. A stitch that is ready to come out should slip easily.
If there are any you can't get out that are snagging on your clothes this could cause irritation at the implant site, and possibly an infection. I suggest that you put a bandage or big Band-Aid over the area and go let your dr remove them. I'm sure they will eventually come out but waiting for nature to take its course could be painful and while it is no likely to happen, it could cause bigger problems.
Good luck,
Smitty

HURTHEART has the right approach. On my original implant I had exactly what you describe. I used the tweezer method and they came out easily. I they won't come out easily or if you are queasy about doing it yourself then give the docs office a call.

Stitches

I have had two instances where the dissolvable stitches don't dissolve and actually cause my incision to not heal properly, ending in an infection. I think there are two things you can do. One, try taking them out yourself or two, have your doctor do it. If they haven't dissolved by now, they should come out.
