check your pulse

do you know what the setting is for the lower limit on your pacer? You need to know that and can call and ask. Check your pulse yourself it is below that number go to the ER. If it is not then your pacer is likely working.
After my first pacer I had a weird empty feeling for a while as I got used to not having that thumping/rushing sound in my ear and beating in my chest. I assume you have not had the pacer enough to get used to the pacer and then have the sitting on the chest feeling you get when it is turned off (for example when you go in for the annual pacer test). but that is one of the feelings you will get if it is not working, the easiest test you can do yourself is take your pulse.
I would call the doc anyway if you are still feeling this way, they can give you more information on what to try and how to determine if it is worth the trip to the ER.
I had that

It sounds like Pericarditis. Inflamation around your heart. They treat it with a gout med and ibuprofen. Hope you feel better!

If this is still happening in the morning OR if you just don't feel comfortable - go to the ER (now) for peace of mind and get checked out.
Or is there any way you could call the doctor (or his nurse or secretary) who put your device in and speak with them first thing in the morning and insist that you be seen right away.

Call your doctor to see if your pacemaker needs to be adjusted. Mine was pacing my diaphram for the first day until I mentioned the weird feeling in my chest/abdomen. They made an adjustment and it went away right away. Maybe yours is something similar. As for the pain, I too, hurt in my chest, armpit, and incision areas. Maybe it's normal since we're still in the healing stage (mine was put in 5 days ago). Prayers and blessings that you find out what is going on, and that it is easily fixable. This isn't fun right now, is it?

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.

Hi mamalizz,
If you think you should go to the ER then I would go. You know yourself the best and if you feel like something is wrong and you need to be seen now just go :) sounds like something has changed since Satuday. I know it's hard to decide "should I go" but I've rarely gone to the hospital and found nothing was wrong and always glad I went.
At the least I would certainly see your Dr in the morning so whatever is going on can be checked out.
Take care,
Heidi
