Hi Smitty - Although I have been hit or miss the past few weeks I had not seen a posting from you in quite a while. I was concerned that maybe you were not well. Then this morning there you are telling us all about Hysteresis. Thank you! You are right - that doctor needs to be kicked in the seat of the pants. Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill and then sending the patient off to try to figure out what was just said. Will these docs ever learn to speak in "patient language"? It is such a pleasure to read your postings that are always spot-on. Take care, my friend. Happy postings!

Thank you for the concern, but I’ve been here often, just not talking as much. It was suggested by my better half that maybe I should listen more and see if I could learn something.

As for my answer on the “hysteresis mode” I was kind of impressed with that myself. But, I’ll have to repeat what I understand George Washington once said, I cannot tell a lie. I worked with a fellow for several years that loved to use the word hysteresis and injected it into his discussions whenever possible. But I had never heard in used in relation to the operation of a pacemaker so I went looking. All of my comment except the part about pacemakers was a cut and paste job.

But I’m glad the question was asked so now if I ever get “hysteresis mode” dropped on me by some doctor when he is talking about my pacemaker, I’ll be able to sit there and act like I really know what he’s talking about.
