Hi Edmund .. In the UK the position is :-
After pacemaker insertion - driving must cease for 1 week. This was previously for 4 weeks until February 1999.
You must inform the DVLA
Driving may be permitted following a period of 1 week
after insertion if there are no other disqualifying conditions.
No; you don't need wait till the DVLA have replied.. if you have notified them; you can legally drive after a week. It is a further requirement of the DVLA that you :-
- agree to regular PM check-ups
- that you accept the advice of your Dr re driving if you need further treatment for your heart condition
- you must notify the DVLA if you have further attacks of giddiness or fainting
SO GET THOSE CAR KEYS OUT NOW AND GO FOR A SPIN !!
Cheers
Ian

Why did you tell them? lol That just complicates things, I think. I'm not sure where you are, but generally all you need is physician's permission to drive. In UK there is a mandatory period of I think a month after a pm. US does not have any rules but some drs do.
