Hello people recently got my pacemaker on 5/21/12 are you suppose to feel any thing diferrent how do you tell if its working propertly. Before i got the pacemaker I had no symptoms other than occasional light headedness. After a stress test and EP test doctors told me I needed a PM in the worst way. Forgive me if my question seem redundant I'm just little nervous.
Thank you, Dmitch

How to tell if working properly

How have you been feeling now? Do you feel your breathing capacity any different? Like Tracey asked, what was your diagnosis?
This is a wonderful site. I'm sure the veterans here will help you greatly.
Good Luck

I had a pm 5 weeks ago. The proof is in the pudding. Meaning as you enjoy yr life and you feel good physically and you are not having dizziness then it is working.
You will be Checked on a regular basis so you will also know what's going on. The beauty of the pm is that you dont know. After a time you start to trust the pm. I am just beginning to trust it. It's great. No dizzinezz and not feeling well.
also new PM

Hello - I just got my PM - 5/28/12. I have tachy-brady syndrome, and the fast, irregular, afib-type beats are still with me. Having trouble getting attention from docs. I don't know, either, if I'm supposed to feel better or worse. Good luck to you,

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.

What was your diagnosis?
Are you still getting occasional light headedness? If you didn't feel bad before, odds are good you're not going to feel much different now but you are safer. Me, I was horribly dizzy and tired before, barely able to function. I pace 100% of the time so I could tell an immediate difference, but it's not like that for everyone.
When you go for your next check, you can ask them how often you pace. The report will say exactly how often it's kicking in.
