*that* kind of cheering, duh. Yeah, I can see why that would be a problem in your doc's opinion. Basing would be a problem, flying and tumbling not so much. You really don't need a foot landing on your pm if a catch goes wrong. Odds are you won't damage it but it would hurt like crazy.
I think the shirts are called paceguard. Look on the store or links page here. They used to have ads on the site and the owner is a member.
Haha yea.

just saw you're from Md, I grew up there. Harford Co then went to high school in Greenbelt. Crab season is here, I miss it! :)
coaching?
by Tracey_E - 2012-05-30 05:05:32
The rec leagues are always short of coaches. Might be a way to get your fix, just a thought. The little ones are so cute and they idolize the older girls. My youngest just aged out of and isn't interested in trying out for high school so next year will be our first year not cheering.
Good luck with your studies!
thank you.

crabs
by Tracey_E - 2012-05-30 07:05:16
I moved away 20 yrs ago and only get up once a year now, so I'm not the crab snob I used to be. Even your worst crabs are better than what I can get here! We can get them year round (FL) but the water is too warm so they taste gross. I order crab cakes from G&M when I get desperate. And I travel with a cooler when I drive up, bring home crabs, tomatoes and corn.
Sweet old MD

Perfect MD night... A bushel... some sweet tea... old bay... hush puppy's... and of course friends and family. :) wouldn't change living here for ANYTHING!
yep

substitute beer for the sweet tea and it's my perfect night. I do so miss Md! We moved here for my husband's job and we're pretty much stuck here until he retires. Growing up we'd spend a lot of summer afternoons on St Michaels or Solomons on the dock with a bushel. Ahhh, good memories!
coasters
by Tracey_E - 2012-05-30 09:05:58
Many members here go on roller coasters. If your pm is new, you might want to wait until next summer, take it easy this year and give your leads lots of time to grow into place.
Avoid the newer coasters that have the magnetic brakes, usually the ones that go super fast and make very fast stops. They will mess with your pm.
If you use rate response, the older wooden ones that are very bumpy will confuse the pm, make it think you are exercising and likely raise your heart rate. It's not dangerous, just be aware it can happen. If you don't use rate response, no problem here.
Other than that, have fun!
padding
by Tracey_E - 2012-05-30 12:05:33
YAY!! Have fun. Why no cheering? You will find that there are very few things that affect our pms. I used to plan things out and worry about it but then I realized NOTHING was really a problem except maybe metal detectors. I go about my life and don't worry about it now. I find it sad when people consider themselves disabled in some way, always worried about what they can and can't do... just enjoy life!
Most of the coasters have padded straps that hold you in and spread the pressure. I could be wrong, but I don't see adding anything would be anything other than a pita.
There is a company that makes shirts with padding over the pm, intended for high impact sports. They are not cheap! Very well rated and most folks I've known that got them love them, but they are an investment.
Have a great time! Where are you going?
I just..

Got the go head... today. I has so happy. I went in for a emergency. ( found out its non related to the pacemaker.) but he still said no cheering. I was pissed but whatever. he said it would help to have something over the pacemaker to take the blow of the over shoulder straps... gonna see if there is already something on here. I cant wait!:)

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
Well...
