Hello Friends,
For those interested, I had my interrogation today. PM was implanted May 2006. This is 7 months after the last checkup. I am pacing 100% in the ventricle, same as last time. Pacing 74% in the atrium compared to 54% 7 mos. ago. Leads are good and stable, life left on pacer is 5.8 yrs. We talked a bit about atenolol and some of the side effects but overall I am doing very well.

Hi Sharon.
It's so nice to see you back on site. I was wondering if everything was all right with you.
I'm glad that your pacer is doing what it's programmed to do for you. Thank you for the update.
Stay well.

Atenolol

Karen - I have been on atenolol for a few years. In fact when I went into 3rd degree HB the cardiologist thought it could be atenolol toxicity because I was on a heavy dose. In ICU they pushed plain saline to see if it would flush the atenolol and change my heart rate-didn't so ruled out toxicity. Got PM the next morning. At that time I was on 50 mg bid for hypertension. My PCP cut me back to 25 mg bid but BP jumped up. Now I am on 50 mg noc and 25 in the am. I am on the max of my other meds - Norvasc and Lisinopril. She is doing some research into the other meds that are on my insurance formulary to see if she can come up with a better plan for HTN. The problem as most of you know with atenolol or any beta blocker or ace inhibitor is the fatigue that drags one down and fogs the brain. Well, the brain fog could have something to do with age.LOL Cutting back by 25 mg seems to have made a difference. Thanks for all the comments. I'm doing really well, my hubby is stable right now and life it good! To those of you who observe Easter as I do, I wish you a very blessed Good Friday and Joyous Easter Sunday. To those who will observe Passover I also send blessings. Am I missing any celebrations? Warm wishes to all my friends. God bless.
