Getting aggravated

I first would like to thank everyone on here for their posts its nice to talk to people who have went through the same things and doesn't make me feel like such an abnormal freak!! I'm still waiting for my follow up appt on the 13th which can't come soon enough, what bothers me the most they were suppose to get rid of the tachycardia and just this evening while sitting on the couch my hr sky rockets to around 115 from around 60 for no reason while making me feel short of breath, heart racing, and sweating. I thought the PM would end all of this but i'm beginning to wonder if there will ever be an end! Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi.
My daughter Emily has an ICD. She was also experiencing episodes of tachycardia. She wore an event monitor for about a month to record them. The explanation we got was that the high end of her rapid heart beat was lower than the top end where her ICD would capture it and bring it down. (I hope that made sense.)
Maybe that is what is happening with yours? Best of luck to you! I hope everything works out.

What did they end up doing for her to fix it?

I far as I know the pm is for a slow hb. The fast hb is usua lly controlled by meds. Some people have ablations for the fast hb. I did read a post here that talked about a pm for afib, which is a fast irregular hb. If that's true I would certainly like to find out more about it. When you see your DR or EP he will explain it all and then you can tell me about it.

Sorry to hear after all that you're still having a problem

Now I u understand why you're so frustrated. I have afib and I haven't had an ablation. I thought about it and decided to try and live with it. I do some meditating and trying some nutritionals. I'm doing well. The
EP does see a difference. It's not a cure but control.
Others in this forum have had success with nutritionals and so I am trying.

tachycardia

Hi

I'm sorry things aren't going well. I don't know what exactly is your condition and what kind of device you have but I know that a pacemaker won't solve your tachycardia problem. They are implanted for slow heartbeats, not fast ones. Unless you have a defibrillator. In my case, I had tachycardias and required 7 ablations to cure them. I ended up with a pacemaker because they burnt the whole electrical system in my heart. Try to obtain more info from your doctor. Good luck and best wishes.

I know the PM won't control tachycardia I just went in for my 3rd ablation last month and they ablated so much that my hr was in the 40's and irregular so they had to immediatly put in the PM. The EP dr that did my last surgery is one of the best in the country up in Chicago and told me that my condition is very difficult, He was hoping that after this ablation he got all the spots but also told me that the tachycardia could come back and if so they would have to try to burn nerves outside of the heart muscle which is a new procedure, I told him at the time I didn't even want to talk about it cause last surgery was 8hrs so just kinda worries me with it starting to get tachy again. As for the device I have its a scientic boston single chamber not sure of the model number without looking at my card. I hope this kind of sheds a little light on my concern, Thanks
