New technology?

I was suppose to go in for surgery for an av node ablation on jan 16th. My drs office called me on monday and said that my dr wanted to cancel my surgery and said when my dr took my case to new york to present it to other drs he learned about some new technology and he wanted to sit down and talk with me about it. I have no idea what it could be. I don't know if its a new med or a new surgery. For others that haven't read my post before they were suppose to ablate my av node for acclerated juntional rhythm and other meds have not helped so this was the last resort. Has anyone on here heard about any new arrythemia meds or new procedures? I asked my pharmacist at work ( I work in a hospital) and he said he has not heard of any new meds. I am suppose to go talk with him tomorrow so I guess I will find out then, just wanted to know if anyone else has heard of anything!

Thanks

Hi Daisy,

the only thing I can think of is "focal impulse and rotor modulation", but that's for treating atrial fibrillation. You can find an abstract on the CONFIRM trial here:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22818076

New drugs: You have tried Dronedarone, right? There's also Vernakalant, but I'm not sure that this is available/approved as a pill, yet (only infusion, I think).

I'm curious to hear what your doctor suggests, please keep me posted.

Good luck for your appointment!
Inga

Thank you for posting this Daisy0388, and Inga too for your information. It's so important for those facing an AV Node ablation to see things like this. You never know what may pop up.

I've already had my AV Node ablated, and constantly remind those who are facing that decision to please make sure to educate themselves and get numerous second, third, etc. opinions from different physicians until they know for fact, there are no other options. I was told there were no other options, but to this day, question my decision on what I've done.

You invested in the Energizer battery company.
