Hi All- I just signed up since having a dual chamber pm implanted Thurs (July 12). I totally did not expect this much pain, especially in my shoulder and at times down my arm. It's not so bad when I am up, but I cannot find a position in bed that will allow me to sleep due to the pain. I am a side sleeper because of a multitude of spine issues all my life but so far have been sleeping on my back on a foam wedge to be slightly elevated. I have two questions for you all: 1. Anyone have more pain in shoulder than implant site and if so how long did it last? 2. Dr. had me stay at 45 degrees elevated to sleep in the hospital over one night, but can I lay flat now? Thanks, Sherie

Thanks for your comment Jax. I'll try the pillow under my shoulder and try to be patient.
Pillow under entire arm

I slept on my back and put a pillow (lay it vertically) under my entire arm. This allows the arm to be slightly elevated and even with your body. This helped to alleviate the discomfort.

Hi Everyone. I am new. I just had a dual chamber Medtronic implanted July 10th. I am complaining of the same thing. My shoulder and arm pit hurt. I too am having problems sleeping flat now that I have come home. I will try the pillow thing. So it may take 2 1/2 weeks to get better? Yikes!
I agree

I agree w/mspacer,I keep a pillow under my left arm, extending over to my chest, and have my left arm, wrap around it sort of.I was a stomach sleeper, and now, being 2 days shy of 2 weeks post PM,have found the pillow comforting.
I dont have shoulder pain or arm pain, for that Im thankful.
Try a nice pillow for comfort, protection and support, think its a good thing to give a go,good luck!

I know what you're talking about. I wish I could say it is temporary problem. Unfortunately, I can't say that. I'm still hurting. Going to a physical therapist soon....can't stay like this. Good luck.

I had alot of shoulder pain. Not only pain but a constant aching. I slept on my back with an extra pillow under my to support my shoulder. Took about 2+weeks.
