Almost sorry I got , but better than being dead...but not at the time..lol anyway I am glad to hear other people stress over this also.. I do take pills a few times a day for stress and being so anxious about my heart beating a little fast a skipping a beat or a half beat I freak after 10 years I would think I would be used to it but I can't do it...Oh I have Afib and prolonged QT and a few other things but anyway I am glad I found this....I feel a bit better,,,,ty! I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.

I am all for being ultimately responsible for my own health. That attitude seems to regularly make doctors with a god complex angry, but screw 'em.
Bottom line - doctors do medicine. They don't seem to believe in nature. I believe in nature and stop doing anything else as soon as I think I can. I'm afraid I'm stuck with the PM and probably some of the medds I'm on, but not necessarily all of the meds. But don't be stupid either. Be informed (note: ther's a BIG defference between informed and obsessed) about your condition(s), medications, modern therapies, etc. Read books, look it up on the internet, and converse with peeps here.Tell your doc if you want to try a differnet mode of therapy or ween off of a med. You might have to be assertive, but don't do crazy. Don't just stop a med on your own. If you begin to wonder about your doctor, find a new one.
I found out that my cardeiologist did a poor job of preparing me for getting a PM too. He said I might have some pain but did not tell me how much to expect or what pain not to ignore. I think they lose perspective or empathy after the 10.000 th one they put in.
One thing I can tell you is that stress and fear will kick your booty. One cannot resolve a fear of death (or anything else for that matter) by constantly thinking about it. In fact, just the opposite is true. I'm on anxiety meds too, so I know your struggle. But sometimes you just gotta say "screw it!".
I got the PM when I died for a little while. I just got sweaty and painlessly slid out the back door. The doctor didn't think that was funny and stuck a PM in my chest. I told God that's the way I want to go when my time comes.
I'll say a prayer for you. God bless - Dave
