Hi Godincontrol,

Hopefully, this is something you've waited for as a "good thing", and not a surprise. Good luck and blessings to you. I will keep you in my prayers. I'm sure you are scared. I'm so sorry about that. I hope you find someone on this site who has walked in your shoes, and knows exactly what you're going through, and can put your mind and thoughts at ease.

Can I ask, do you currently have a PM/ICD or CRT while waiting for a new heart? I'm just curious because before my CRT, they were preparing to put me on the transplant list. I went for the CRT first because I was afraid of the transplant and what it entails afterwards (rejection meds, etc.) I did not want a transplant and asked not to be put on the list if that was still an option.

I find out on Dec. 10th, if my EF has increased enough not to be considered for a transplant. Just yesterday, I was thinking I actually would like to go for a transplant if needed (vs having a CRT anymore.) Have they told you if the new heart would cure things and make everything okay? Or, could you still need a PM/CRT with the new heart since the problem is "often" in the electrical system? I was just curious and bet others wonder too, since a lot of us may have to make that decision in the future. We're all rooting for you!

Again, best wishes to you on this new chapter of your life. I pray for the best to come for you and will keep you in my prayers.

Transplant list

Myself, I'm listed at 1B. Been this way for about a year. I'm 54 years old and was in great health. My heart problem came from a viro infection which wiped out the left side of my heart.

I have a CRT-D and also I have a hickmen tube that is pumping Dobutamine 24/7. Been on that for almost a year. I have to go into the transplant unit once a month for a full check up along with full blood work. Some times I have to do blood work twice a month. Fluid is a big problem for me around my heart. I take enough fluid pills to dry up a big lake every day. Weighting yourself every morning is a must. In my case, I can pick up 3 lbs overnight whick is not good.

Other then take, if you are listed, you should by now went thru all those bloodwork test along with colon screening.

Now the wait is on were some days it is very hard to get thru. I hope you have family support, you will need that.

God bless and live each day as your last, Paul
