Hi all, im a newbie. 5 weeks ago had a boston scientific ICD implanted in the flinders hospital in adelaide australia, absolute great bunch of people. Just had my first follow up on the settings and that and whilst they were doing settings they advised id have a small tingle sensation which i did and was all ok and good. After i left doctors and was given the ok, the next morning my left arm was double in size and blueish like if u put a bandaid on to tight, it is very sore (throbbing) and the veins were double in size, an also very visable. It is only in the left arm and from shoulder to fingers and i thought it was perhaps during the night ive slept on it, but day 3 now and it comes and goes often and was wondering of your thoughts before rushing in which i will if it gets worse but being a sunday its about as imposible as me winning lotto to see any specialist tonight and all they will do is admit me and make me lay in a bed and wait when i really just need the specialist to have a quick look, im pretty sure its a blocked vein going by what ive read on here so far but would rather be home with kids and missus till morning if nothing changes, whats your thoughts guys as im only 5 weeks into this life change :)

Hi

This sounds like something that should be addressed sooner rather than later. If it's still that way today, a trip to your ER may be in order.
Most problems like what you are describing can be from a blood clot causing superior vena cava syndrome. The clot needs to be treated. Please don't wait with this. It can quickly become a medical emergency.
GOOD LUCK.
Best to you,
Gellia

Thanks Gellia the missus is home from work in half an hour and we are gunna whip up the quacks quickly hopefully with a quick fix. I had a couple panadol rapids that was advised by my local doctor to try thin the blood out a little and clear it and its gone down slightly and is no longer painfull but im still gunna take your advice and whip up the e.r

Could be a clot, don't waste time getting it checked out.
GET TO DR OR ER

I hope you have had this checked but it sounds very much like a blood clot which is not something to leave alone. Please do not wait any longer it could be something totally different and not dangerous but please don't take that chance.
Thanks Valerie

That sounds like a vein has burst. The hole they have to make in order to put the PM In is right in the middle of a jigsaw puzzle of nerves, arteries, and veins. THey insert the lead for the PM into and down a major vein. It is really easy to nick one of them, tear teh one the lead goes into, or stress them too much. If a vein has burst or torn, you probably won't die in 5 minutes, but it may cause serious damge if not taken care of in short order. Don't wait. go NOW or you may be sorry.
