1st Replacement

Hey everyone. I’m having my 1st replacement soon and I’m just wanting to know what your recovery was like. I’m just getting the box changed. The leads are fine as far as I’m aware. Did you need any time off ofwork and if so how long?

Thanks
Laura :)

If you need off work depends on what kind of work you do. Most of us are home a few hours later and feel pretty good right away. I've had 4 now. My second was done on a Fri, we left for the Keys on Mon. I stayed out of the water but other than that had a normal trip, just moved a little cautiously and used it as an excuse to not carry luggage :o) I went on a hiking trip less than a week after my third one. The last one, I needed a new lead and pocket revision so it slowed me down a little longer.

They go in the same place so it's all scar tissue. The leads are the reason for most of the restrictions so really it's just a matter of the incision healing. I'm so numb after so many replacements I don't even feel that anymore.

#1 was with a lead re-done but #2 was a piece of cake as TraceyE says. In & out of hospital in a few hrs home for lunch, Tylenol to help sleep 1st night & back to normal activity (retired but volunteer a lot). EP wanted me to be careful of arm movement again but no big deal.

Hope all goes well with yours as it usually does.

NAP, in and out in 4 hours or less. As long as there is no issue with your leads. Just as Janet said, they slice the existing scar do a little cleaning.

Turn you off, Plug you in, re-sync and glue you back together. And you're ready to go home. I was in at 7 and out @ 11:00 for lunch.

Good luck and don't worry, its easier than being forced to watch a Spnge Bob marathon.

Take Care
