Got an implant date....

November 9th!

The EP will be using a Medtronic Adapta for my AV Block.

Does anyone have any compliments or complaints with this device?

Thanks all!

Medtronic for AV block

I've exactly that pacer for AV Block since 2004. It has worked great.

The important thing is that it be set to DDD mode which turns off the Rate Response option. With simple AV block it isn't needed and just creates problems. This typically is the factory setting at implant.

The other is that the Upper Tracking Limit be set high enough. This is the maximum HR that the pacemaker will allow to be passed to your ventricles. Typically it comes from the factory set to 120 which is way to low for a person your age.

I'm 82 yrs old and insisted that the upper rate be set to 150 on mine. While this is too high for my age I take responsibility to keep my HR down, which is what I was doing before the AV block.

Depending on the degree of block you will likely feel much better after the implant. It is an easy procedure. In fact I chose to have it done with only a local pain killer and remained wide awake during the whole thing.

good luck and come back to let us know how it went.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
