MRI

I know they told me that my PM is MRI compatable but I just could not go through with it, I cancelled my appointment. Has anyone had a MRI post PM.

If you have an mri compatible mri, it's perfectly safe!! That's the whole point of getting them, no? We've had a few members have them, you can probably find it if you do a search. There aren't a lot because the mri-safe pm's haven't been around that long.

I have them all the time and my pm isn't even mri safe. They just take extra procaution when they do it.

I had my Revo installed February 2012 and in September 2012 I had a head and cervical spine MRI. Depending on what part of the body is being imaged matters. For the cervical spine I had to have the scan done in a long bore magnet, not short bore. I did fine and when i was in the MRI mode of the pacemaker, I could feel it pacing continuously. That is a little different feeling and at the end of the scan I was ready to be reconfigured at the end of the scan. I am a nurse and these pacemakers are made and have been tested for MRIs.

I must say,( not answering your question, just commenting.) I asked the EP if mine was copatable, when he said sorry it's not, I breathed a sigh of relief. I have claustrophobia and was tired of plulling up my big girl panties and trying to control my fear of death in a tube. I did it but I hated it, always had a headache for a couple of days after. some peoples pain is the nexts pleasure or some such nonsense. Blessings Jean
