My cookie
by mandogrl - 2012-10-16 11:10:18
My husband calls my pm my "cookie" because it Lois Ike I have an Oreo cookie buried there. I think on skinny people(like me) it will always show... But who cares? My first trip to the beach in my bikini was awkward for me, but unnecessarily so. Crap! No one stare at me at all! Until then I never realized we all have "things" about our body that, although different, no one really cares about.
No lifting for six weeks is what I was told. Not even lifting my arm over my head.

Buldge

Hey listen you are so lucky that these devices are here and save our lives. To many people question the scars and the lump in their chest. The buldge is there to stay and its due to the insert location and your body frame. Most thin people shows more than heavy people. The unit will shift a little but its not gonna sink and go deeper. Alot of the placement depends on the way the pocket was cut open. You will have to live with this for now.

To tell you the truth I never even give it a second thought. While growing up it never stopped me from doing anything and to this day my girlfriend or my kids need to remind me that I have one!
Incision or PM?
by ChristieD - 2012-10-16 10:10:54
Are you talking about the pacemaker itself sticking out or the incision? It's normal to be able to see the PM sticking out some, especially if its placed subcutaneously (under the skin) instead of under the muscle. Even under the muscle though you can see a protrusion.
If you're talking about the incision, it's also normal for it to stick up as it heals. It should start to lay flat as it heals. Once it's closed (after 4-6 weeks) you can do a gentle massage over the incision line several times a day to help release the scar tissue and help it lay flat.
As far as lifting, talk to your doctor but most say nothing over 10 pounds on the affected side for 4-6 weeks. I'm 4 weeks out from having mine placed and even if I try to lift something on the UNaffected side it pulls on the incision and causes pain so be careful.
Good luck!
