it is now about three weeks since i had my Medtronic defibrillator implanted and I am still very tired almost all the time. How long can I expect till I get some energy back? I can barley walk a block with out having to sit down.

being profoundly exhausted after having a heart device is sad to say - common.
your body has just gone thru surgery and is trying to heal, plus if you have not had your 1st check up where they usually adjust settings - then right now you are stuck with the default settings.
if your 1st appointment is kind of far off - call and ask if you can be seen sooner.
and yes, any beta blocker (for most people) will make you tired...it's just one of those darn side effects.
it will get better, just learn to be the squeaky wheel and ask a lot of questions....be firm too. ask about the settings and how they work, and if one is adjusted, ask them to explain to you why and what you can expect from it.
good luck and please keep us posted on how you do.

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!

Hello I'm 3 weeks post pacemaker and like you am so tired and feel like I'm drunk at times. Is it our reaction to the op or are we on too much medication? I take 80mg sotalol twice daily. What about you?
