7 Days and Counting

I was shocked yesterday to discover where all my energy went. My handy little St. Jude Identity, which has served me well for 3 years, one month and 2 days, reached battery life on March 8, the very day I became a zombie. I'm now in battery saving mode, which apparently means that if I don't have to walk more than a few feet and take really slow deep breaths (hibernate maybe?), I will last until Tuesday morning when I get a new St. Jude. Where oh where is the Energizer Bunny when I need him?? Lenora

Hi Lenora, I think i told you before that I have the same make and model pacemaker. mine is just 2 years old. I was told last month that I have 3 years battery life left. Give or take a few months. I hope that everything works out well for you. I will be thinking of you and praying for a quick recovery. Godspeed, pacergirl

Lenora, I was like the others concerned to read your posting. I am so sad to know your battery is exhausted, therefore, you are. Goes to show that everything we are told, hear and read is not actually so. I am sure you have told us in the past, but were you pacing 100% of the time or???? Definitely you will be in my thoughts and prayers as always. I wish I was close to where you are so I could give you a hand so you would not have to do anything. That is the only problem with these long-distance friend-ships. I hope you can feel all the good thoughts and the prayers being lifted up for you. Keep the faith and God bless and keep you plugging along........very carefully. In His Love, Sharon

delux model

Hello Leonora, I'm new to the site, but I hope you don't mind me responding. My first pacemaker was a small dual chamber St. Jude. I wish I could remember which model it was. It lasted a little less than 4 years. I walk 3 miles a day, and one day I felt like I was swimming upstream. The exact same symptoms you are having, I also had. This time, they implanted an Identity 5386. I was assured this was a bigger, better, built to last longer model! At my last interrogation, I have 7 more years, and this new one was implanted this past July. I hope they will be giving you a "delux" model! All the best to you! You will be feeling better soon!
