Okay, I had my PM inserted the day before Thanksgiving, last year (2012). Started lifting free weights again about 2 months ago, then noticed that the PM has moved position - to the point of it being more obvious now. I stopped lifting weights, hoping that the PM would somehow go back to the original position. I do not know if I have damaged it or not. I live in Mexico where my particular pacemaker (Boston Scientific) cannot be checked from a distance. My doctor in the States who did the procedure did not know that Boston Scientific does not have this capability. The doctor here in Mexico assured me that they did. Some doctors, eh? My trust level is down concerning both of them! I do not know what to do now and really wonder about the advice that some PM weight lifters have given me about how safe it is to lift weights. I was not foolish in my weight lifting - did not do any jerky movements or lift too much weight. So I am giving others who lift weights a bit of a caution here. ANY advice or word of encouragement from you would be grandly received. Thanks! Don

Weight Lifting Confusion!

Thanks, lee - there seems to be a lot of confusion over weightlifting and pacemakers - I know we should not do it for some time after getting our PM, but I am not sure how long. I waited 3 months before lifting again. I have now stopped and will see the doctor - but not until July because I cannot afford to get to the US (Mexico does not have the right equipment here to help me).

Weight lifting is absolutely forbidden with pacemakers, you can rip the leads and cause the pacemaker to pop out of the pacemaker pouch:)
