Hi all, my pm is working fine and seems to be doing all that's required. However it appears to now be nearer the surface than when fitted. My cardiologist thinks it may be because I've lost weight in that area, I'm not sure of that. However he has offered to re-site it deeper, behind the muscle? Has any one had this done? it has healed up really well and I don't want it to be a complication prone move, Its very tender in the area and the lead junction to the pm are very defined and sore to touch. Advice and thoughts welcome. Thanks. Brian

Under the muscle

I know some have had it implanted under the muscle. I believe TraceyE is one. She will probably be along later. If not, you can private message her with your questions.
I'm sure others will chime in too.

buried

Mine is buried and I love it! However, it is submammary, not an option for you ;o) But! I really feel burying it is the way to go. Ask your dr about putting it between the pectorals rather than simply putting it deeper. That way seems to cause fewer problems. If you do a search for "pectoral" or "pocket revision" you should find quite a few posts of members who have had it done. Recovery is a little longer than when it's just under the skin (which is why they usually put them close to the surface) but once healed, it should be a lot more comfortable.
I would ask for a culture to make sure there is no infection before moving it deeper, make sure that's not the cause of the movement. Sometimes it's just weight loss or unexplained shifting, sometimes it's what they call erosion which is associated with infection.
culture?

Thanks for comments! I'm in the UK and I'm not sure what would happen if I asked for a culture to be taken!

Go for it

Mine was put under the muscle and has been out twice since! Each time it has been put in differently and the middle implant it sat quite proud and felt sore where my clothes touched the bump. I asked them to do something different last time and it is so much better
I would go for it if I were you. Making the pocket is a bit rough but it is quickly over.
Good luck!
Ps I'm going in again Tuesday and will insist that they put it back in the same place as it is now.
