4 weeks post 100% pacemaker dependent, with A V node ablation I have gone back to work was a little slow at first, I work in a trauma center cath and ep lab, we see and treat anywhere between 80 to 100 patients a day, to get to my area to work, I have to park and walk about a mile to get on campus, 1st time in a year I didn't have to sit down at 3 different area's. I work with some great heart Dr's,( inside joke I am their poster child). Dr set my heart rate at 60 on Wednesday, stated that I should be good for 5 years with that level. no heart medication now only my thyroid medication and my blood thinner. I feel that each week I am getting stronger. thank you all for this support group, this is a great site. I have custody of my 12 year old grand daughter and yes I am gonna take care of myself, I feel that God and Dr Henry, have given me 2nd chance at life. Can anyone suggest a good healthy heart diet that has worked for them and at what level of exercise would be a good start?
Thank you all so much
Pat

Best thing for you

That mile walk each day is likely the best thing you are doing. I'm sure you cover more miles than that on your job.
The heart problem that got you the pacer is electrical and isn't all the affected by diet. Just eat whatever makes you feel like it's keeping you healthy and it will. At 83 yrs old I've been watched most of the diet fads many of which were contradictory. As my dad used to say "they don't don't make you live longer, it just seems longer".

Exercise

Cardia Rehab. That is where I started because I did not know how much or little exercise was allowed after my implant. The Nurses monitor you with a portable EKG in the beginning. It was very reassuring to know they were there in case anything went wrong. They were wonderful and it was a great experience for body, heart and mind. I had the best Nurses....they were so caring and made it so much fun!
There is also a requirement for a short nutrition lesson which may be useful for you too.
