Hi again, I had my surgery on Tue 25th Feb 2013. My surgery lasted 2hrs and I was awke the whole time. I felt perfectly relaxed and enjoyed the banter and relaxed atmosphere in ht Theatre. The only discomfort I felt during the whole process was the ijections topping up my sedatives/painkiller. It stung a little. They had to try 3 times with one of the 4 leads inserted, but were sucessful on the 3rd attempt.About an hour post-op, the ( I learned later) Alarm went off on my ICD. Sounded like an "I Tune/Mobile phone tone". As it only lasted 10-15 seconds, did'nt take anymore notice of it. It went off 2 more times on Tues and I realised that the sound was coming from my newly implanted ICD. It went off again on Wed morn, nobody had experienced this before and were baffled. Which did'nt fill me with confidence. The Technician thought that the ICD wa faulty and would need replacing, but he wanted to phone for some advice. 10 mins later he came back and explained that all was well, theICD was working fine, and I quote " It thought it was still in it's box in transit and also sensed it was in my chest and got confused" end of quote. After a few adjustments, all's well. I would like to thank you all out there for your encouragement and adice pre-op. It really helped and I hope that if some reading this is like me a "First Timer", it helps.
Best wishes to all: Ferenc

Just saying thank you, seems so inadequate, But thank you. Your encouragement and advice have been a blessing to me and my partner on this journey.
Thank You: Ferenc

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
I'm glad it's over for you

Hopefully those adjustments will make you feel better and your device is no longer "confused". I never heard of that explanation before...but just go by how you feel.
You should begin to have more energy. Don't forget Cardiac Rehab when you get the ok....it's a life saver too.
