I've had a PM for 2 years..Dr tried to put leads thru vein of left side, but couldn't, so had to implant on right side..I'm a right handed shooter..I waited 2 months..started shooting 22 rifle..no problems..waited another month and started shooting my AR15 (.223) and my SKS (7.62X39)..still no problems..waited 3 more months..started shooting 12 gauge with pistol grip..shooting from waist..no problems..but shooting pistol grip shotguns is awkward..so got a Kicklite shoulder stock for the shotgun..no problems..I hold the shotgun butt a little further into the arm than the shoulder, however...I don't and wouldn't shoot high powered rifle calibers..I don't hunt...just a lot of target shooting..I get a PM checkup every 6 months..no problems..

I also have mine on the right side and have been a life long shooter (LE as well) and only kept my Bushmaster and now strictly a handgunner. I am getting a 500 smith for the fun days to shoot lol.

My PM is in the left side, but I also have a hickman tube in the right side of my chest. I hunt and had or have any problems shooting all guns.

...Your post has a hole in it. 2 holes, MOF.

1) You say you don't fire "High powered " rifles - that's a generic way of cutting out anything cal. .30 & above, yet you shoot a 12 gage shotgun from the shoulder. I gave up on the .30-06 because of the recoil impact - gave a classic, presentation grade Model 70 1959 manufacture to my #2 Son because of that. Converted to .257 Roberts - just as deadly to a deer at out to at least 100 yds. Then there's the 12 gage - recoil is just as sharp as a .30-06, so that was relegated to the dustbin of history, also. Replaced by a Winchester 20 gage to lighten recoil. Does great on ducks at a reasonable range. I leave the air defense artillery range birds to Son & his 12 gage cannon.

2) You say you only do target shooting - but a shotgun is NOT a target weapon. Do you mean skeet & trap? Man, that's a lot of lead to be sending downrange from a 12 gage snuggled into the PM shoulder.

I second Frank's comment about the correct end against the shoulder.

Amazing....the blog is for persons to share their experiences about their pacemakers, and we end up with persons playing right/wrong games with the comments..
The butt end of the stock is the end that goes against the shoulder not the barrel end....I have to qualify twice a year with a shotgun...and guess what I shoot at..paper targets..
