My name is Yolanda I am 43 yrs old and had my first pacemaker put in march 6th (It was put in under the muscle). I have been feeling this ache and discomfort for the last 2 days (maybe longer but I haven't noticed d/t the pain meds I was taking). Has anyone felt this before? I also had an episode today when I was sitting on the couch where i could feel every beat it almost seemed as I could hear it. This was so strange and scary but when I got up to get my son it stopped (he was home with me).
I still feel very tender in the area of my implantation and get really jittery and nervous feeling with activity. I go to see the Dr on 3/13/13.
Any input or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Yolanda

Aching and soreness is perfectly normal, esp if it is buried. They may have manipulated your neck either getting you on/off the table or trying to get the leads in. Keep an eye out red spots/streaks, that's a sign of a clot. Also watch for increased swelling, fever, oozing from the incision or anything else that might be a sign of infection. Odds are you are fine, but when in doubt don't be shy about calling. They'd rather have you come in for nothing than ignore something potentially serious.
Strange beats, most likely it's just that you're more aware now. Make a note of the date/time and when they check the pm next ask if anything shows up on the report.
Jitters with activity could be nerves, could be rate response is too sensitive. RR senses movement and raises your hr if it doesn't go up on its own. It has quite a few settings so it may take a few tries to get it fine tuned for you.

I sometimes still have aches in my neck, shoulder and left breast. I am over 3 weeks post op. my dr said it is normal because of the way they have to make the pocket. As far as hearing beats like Tracey said you are probably more alert to what is going on with your body more than you ever have before. But when in doubt call the dr that is what they are there for.
