Hello,
I just left my cardiologist office(seen PA who does all the setting monitoring and changes) I am 1 week post op of insertion of a dual chamber Boston Scientific PM. I was told that I can now drive and raise my hands over my head to wash my hair and hold or lift 5#. I have to say I was quite surprised to hear that as I am still having quite a bit of discomfort and also pain going up my neck from shoulder area. I was originally told no driving for 2-3 weeks and no lifting at all. I also found out that on day 3 post op i had a few episodes of atrial tachycardia which we were all unaware of any prior episodes ( i was coming down with the flu and was vomiting on a couple occasions). Do these sound right? I just don't want to take any unnecessary risk that may slow down my recovery. I am a RN and would like to be back to full duties in 6 weeks.
Thanks for your time and input
I appreciate you all
Yolanda

Thanks Angry Sparrow for the shoulder advice. I don't believe my shoulder is restricted but I think ROM is a good idea for prevention. As I stated earlier i am only 1 week post op. I was hoping for advice on the restrictions such as driving or raising arm above shoulder. I believe the pain in the shoulder and neck was d/t a slight complication of anesthesia and having to be held down and restrained during surgery.
I just want to know what is safe for me to do and what i should avoid 1 week post op?
