When can you start doing aerobics or at least "dancing" to music. I did a little today but felt the pm shaking around in there a little uncomfortable but it felt so awesome to be able to do it because I haven't been able to do it in a long time. I wasn't out of breath and had the energy to do so. I just don't want to over do and shake something loose. Can I start bike and tread mill?? I had my implant on Monday 4/7.

treadmill i would say yes, start slow see how it feels
exercise bike i would say yes, same slow start.
biking outside probably not a good idea yet, i would wait at least 4-5 weeks.
wishing you a speedy recovery
cardiac rehab

I've also heard a lot about that too, I might ask the device gal if I should do that or if I can just go to a gym. I guess it would depend on my insurance coverage. obviously they wouldn't pay for gym but the cardiac rehab if they paid for it (or PT) might be a good choice because I am so physically out of shape IDK--it might also be a good way to see if my settings need to be tweeked for exercise?? again i'm so new at this but I really want to get myself in shape and start a regular exercise program and hopefully drop about 50+lbs! I would feel a TON better I know!
I should have clearified that

What I meant to say was like a stationary bike at the gym. I haven't been on a "real" bike in years. but I need to get my legs working because I haven't been doing anything for so long. Also I learned the hard way yesterday to take it easy because my incision area started to really hurt after all that bouncing. ice did the trick but from now on until it heals i'm taking it easy however I think the stationary bike should be ok if I don't move my upper body too much. i'll give it a try if its too much then i'll wait. I have apt with the device gal on wed. so I will also talk with her and see what I can and can not do. I've been inactive for so long doing minimal stuff because I just haven't felt like doing anything. now I've got a new wind!

Hi kmom,
I asked my Dr. about riding my exercise bike when I saw him 3 weeks after my implant. He did not tell me no but told me to be very careful because I could still possibly pull out my leads. I waited until about 4 weeks before I tried it and it did not feel good. Even though I only rode it for 20 minutes at a fairly easy level I was very sore the next day around the incision and the PM site. It seemed like I could feel the PM bouncing around and I have not tried it again since. I have been doing lots of walking and hiking at a little park close to my house. 2 weeks ago I started doing some very light weight routines and that has gone pretty well.
I understand you wanting to get back in shape. That part was hard for me too. I think you should take your time and ease back into it so your body has plenty of time to heal.
I wish you lots of luck!

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.
6/8 weeks

My daughter does a lot of dancing and the period given after a procedure is 6 to 8 weeks depending on the level of activities and procedure she has had. You have to be careful during the first few weeks that you do not dislodge the wires. After the initial period you should be able to enjoy most activities.
