I had my pm implanted so fast I hardly had time to prepare. Someone mentioned have some blouses ironed and ready to wear. You might want to get some paper or plastic dishes. I found if I wanted something to eat at least didn't have to wash dishes. The evening meal my family took over. The procedure itself is not terrible. It was over quickly and I was put out for 40 minutes. Woke up feeling a little sore but fine. Went home the next day.
You'll be fine. You'll get to the other side of this.

Hi Karen,
So today is your big day !!!!
I am 3 weeks in now, no sign of any bruising, no sign of any pain, the discomfort really was minimal post op. with no pain killers etc. Hardest part was for other half as I had to sleep on my back the first few days (yes, I snore on my back !!!)
Walking 4-6 miles a day at average 3.8 mph .
As I am off work instead of sitting in a car all day I have lost 10 Ibs in weight too. Result !!!!!
You should be reading this back at home later !
Be glad to hear how you got on ?

....... the actual event is NOTHING like what you're going through . It really is a piece of cake. It is a minor op . Don't worry . My tips :-
-- opt for a local anaesthetic, you will feel better when they wheel you back to the ward. You may even enjoy the conversation while the PM is being fitted. You may even enjoy the hospital food afterwards
-- persuade them that you can be sent home the day of the op ; walk back to the car feeling proud !
-- the only ice you need is in the ice bucket around the champagne for when you get home
-- let the family pamper you and let them do the household chores for a few days
-- go for a long walk the day after the op, and breathe in the lovely UK spring air knowing that your fainting episodes are a thing of the past.
-- enjoy that first shower as soon as you can ( I draped cling-film over the wound on day 2 and showered )
-- sit in your favourite armchair and wonder why on earth you were worried
Best of luck Karen
