Is this normal ?

by IAN MC - 2013-05-13 05:05:04

Hi Karen The more posts we read on here , the more reluctant we are to comment on the " Is this normal ? " question. We all have different conditions. All we can do is give individual experiences. It certainly wasn't normal for me ; on Day 7, I went on holiday but that doesn't help you one bit !

Do you feel better today than you did yesterday and did you feel better yesterday than you did the day before ? Maybe your return to normality will be much slower than mine.

I don't have Mobitz 2 which you do . Are the symptoms you are getting now any different to the symptoms that led you to having a PM ? i.e. is the PM making any difference ? Do you need the settings on your PM adjusting ? Have you had recent changes to your drugs; could it be side-effects ?

If I were you I would assume that this is NOT normal after 6 days and would get back a.s.a.p to your Dr / pacemaker technician.

Best of luck

Ian

Woozy Post Op

Karen: There are bits & pieces missing from your story that are needed.

First is Ian's question about the difference in symptoms pre & post Op.

Second is the list of your symptoms Pre -op. You said "Fast beats , slow beats & Mobitz block." Is that THREE different symptoms or your perception of the symptoms of the Mobitz block?

Third is your use of Beta Blockers to control fast HR. How long have you been on the Beta Blockers? Were you on them Pre -op? Have you been on them long enough to become as adaptive to their side effects as you can become? They can make you feel the way you describe.

It could also be your reaction/recovery from anesthesia. In some people that can take a few days & can cause just the symptoms you describe, also.

Other than my questions, I totally agree w/ Ian's suggestion that you examine how you feel each day as compared to the previous day.

Wish you the best in the rest of your recovery. Just remember Ian's comment that we all react differently. He went on Holiday 7 days post op. I returned home & next day I was working on building the house we live in today - not very hard, but I was at it all day.

So, WHAT, exactly IS normal?
