1st checkup

Two weeks today since i've had my crt-p implanted. Surgery went well, released from hospital the following morning. Minor pain & discomfort afterwards, took some tylenols for the next couple days to lessen the pain even more. Was impressed with how well concealed the pm was under my skin although that was short lived, as the swelling is now going down the pm is becoming more visible, not a problem though. Been babying my left side, i can't help being paranoid about dislodging the leads. The first few days after the implant i felt dizzy and lightheaded, it was lessening each day so i figured it was probably due to the sedation i received during surgery. I told my regular cardiologist when i seen him last week about the dizziness and he agreed that it was probably only a side effect of the anesthesia. The dizziness and lightheadedness lessened but i'm still experiencing it lots more than before the pacemaker. So today when i saw the pacemaker specialist for the first time since the implant, i told them about my dizziness. After the nurse confirmed all my leads were in place & the pm was functioning properly she suggested that it was my bp medication causing my dizzy/lightheadedness not the pacemaker. She contacted my cardiologist and had my bp medicine dosage lowered. I was then instructed just continue not lifting my arm above my head nor lift anything heavier than 10lbs for another week and also to relax a little that i didn't need to nor should i continue to baby my left side. The pm doc gave me another appointment in september, when possibly the fine tuning stage will begin if needed and i'll be seeing my cardiologist again next week.
My cardiologist also told me he could see a small improvement in my ekg & echo. I'm looking forward to jumping back on my treadmill to see if i can feel any improvement, which the pm doc gave me the okay to do as long as i don't over do it. And as rare as it is for me to exercise, its even rarer for me to over do it.... :) rob

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
