I'm 43 and have had my pacemaker four weeks today. I'm looking forward to living another 50 years and this marvelous device inside me will help me do that.
yup!

i had my Reveal for just over a year and then it was replaced by a Biotronik Evia, which i LOVE!
they even let me keep my reveal :D
taking out the reveal was no big deal. they did mine as separate surgeries.. so i can tell you the reveal just felt odd as they pushed the small thing back out through the incision.. the pressure, ya know? i dont even remember almost any recovery.
Pacemaker implant recovery really varies with the person. I've heard of some people at work on day 3 and only take over the counter meds like advil or tylenol. where as I didnt return to my computer programming job till day 17 because i was on strong painkillers before that.
i WILL say that theres a few things i recommend:
A) females where a really good supportive bra during recovery.. not having the weigh pulling on the incision site will make a big difference both in pain and in how much the scar stretches/how it heals.
B) after my first placement, one of the most painful things was lying totally flat, and/or trying to get up from being totally flat - so I invested in this set of pillows to make my life a TON easier when they had to revise the pocket and leads a few months later. Even now i use it to read or work on my laptop in bed, or to sleep when im congested.
