HELP

A few days ago I had a double chamber PM fitted and am basically a bit in the dark about whether I will be able to return to a exercise regime.I've read so many conflicting opinions on the internet about what I will and won't be able to do after the first few months.I'm 32 an exercised regularly lifting weights and playing football.I understand the risks with playing contact sports but will I still be able to use my rowing machine and lifts weights after the initial 3 or 4 months of the operation?PLEASE HELP!

Exercising following Dual PM

Dorty, have a look at my follow up: do a search for "What Should I Do - More". I have had no problems since I started back at the Gym - I'm 80 and I don't just take it easy. I was told by the Physiologists that I could do anything - there were no restrictions but if you are uncertain or fearful then do get advice from your Dr.

Ask your dr to be sure but if your only problem is electrical and it is fixed with the pm, you should be able to do pretty much whatever you want after 6-8 weeks. Some drs are more conservative than others in what they tell us is ok. Ask yours what he thinks. If it sounds too restrictive, ask specifically why, don't be shy about questioning his reasons. Sometimes they have a solid reason, sometimes it's just habit or they don't have other patients who have asked so they say no out of habit.

I do Crossfit so I lift, run, row (machine and kayak/canoe), pull ups, all sorts of crazy stuff because it changes daily. Depending where your placement is, you might need to watch it with barbells. If cleaning the bar sits it right on your leads, you'll need to be careful not to put too much weight on it. Mine is lower than that so I don't worry about it.

Full contact sports aren't a good idea, but they make protective shirts you could try. You won't damage the pm, it's titanium, but your skin isn't so tough so a hard direct hit will hurt.

This company is owned by a fellow PMC member. They aren't cheap, but they are very well made.
