PM to be placed the 8th

I am having a PM placed on Monday due to bradycardia for years. I am hoping it will give me some energy. I am tired of being tired. Will I feel different immediately post procedure or will it take a while for my body to adjust?

Everyone is different. You may feel more energy right away or it may take some time and some adjustments.
For me it took a little while-- my settings needed to be tweaked. You'll certainly feel tired right after the surgery and there are restrictions about lifting yr pm arm higher than yr shoulder and not lifting anything over 10 lbs.
the leads need a chance to set. Other pm hosts feel amazing in no time at all. Let us know how you're doing

I had a biventricular Pacemaker fitted on the 3rd of June, to be honest I feel no different, infact feeling so tired all the time, I have been very dissapointed. I had episodes of Bradachardia and had passed out a few times when in Af. I am not sure if things will change if they change my settings when I go to the pacing clinic on the 25th of this month. I am on Losartan, Indapamide Amiodoryn, not sure f medication is the culprit. Best of luck with your Pm

I could feel the difference when I woke up in the recovery room! My rate was very low, 44 all my life then dropped to the 20's the day of the surgery, so the difference was drastic. A lot will depend on your overall health, how low your hr is and how often it's low. If it's a little low sometimes you won't feel as big a difference as if it's very low all the time.

Hi, In response to your question... yes, it will take some time to adjust to your new life with energy. I was one of those high energy kind of people when my heart began to skip beats, beat way too slow and I was soooooo very, very tired. Then the pacemaker, I felt so much better the moment that I woke up in recovery! I just got better and better and more like myself than I had in over a year! I was really sick before and so for me it was a great improvement. I went along just fine for a while and then I had a period that I had to "adjust" emotionally to having a devise to operate my heart. Now many, many people don't have any issues at all, so don't worry. I am an emotional lady so I deal with things "my" way hahah... life is excellent for me with a pacemaker. I'm on my 2nd PM and doing great.
Wishing you much success and wellness, keep us up to date on your progress and know that you have friends here.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
