Just had a pacemaker implanted. What do you recommend to help remove the surgery scar? The RN said Vitamin E, I've heard Cocoa Butter.

I did not do anything with mine. Time has healed and after a few months all that could be seen is a thin white line, and is hardly noticeable. (It is over 2 years now and even better) It is certainly nothing like the scar on my forehead obtained last January after tripping up a step and flinging myself into a wall sustaining a head injury!!
I think after time you will find it will fade considerably. There is on the market here in Oz, a skincare gel called Hiruscar, a Swiss product which might help. It advertises that it reduces the appearance of scars. Let us know how you go

Mederma Scar Gel

I have been applying Mederma Scar Gel to all my scars for the last 10 years. It works great, but you have to do it every day. I had hip surgery when I was 10 and applied the gel to the scare about 10 years later and the scar is deminishing. You will not be able to get it to completely go away.

I agree with Mederma Scar Gel. Works fairly well. I tried bio oil but found it was greasy and could stain clothes.

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.

I spoke with a plastic surgeon after my last surgery. She said it didn't matter so much what we use, as long as we keep it moist and out of the sun. I have had good luck with vitamin e. I started putting it on as soon as it was closed up tight.
