I had my pacer replased about ten days ago . My old one lasted seven & half years - Medrotic Kappa.
My new one listed above,I had my settings already changed twice & it may be tweaked again. I get a little short of breath. My old one worked so perfect from the begining.
I am aactive person & would like to hear from others that has this type.

my pacer

I had a sudden heart attack one evening while brushing my teeth. Left artery 100% closed- had two stents then Cardiac Arrest with a near death experience. I watched my diet, walked three miles a day,had a physical with all blood test in normal range two weeks before the attack. My doctor still say , why did you have a heart attack.
About four months later had the pacer. My beats were dropping to 20 & then ship. Right away my Kappa was great & always served me well for I pace all the time. It lasted 7-1/2 years.
Maybe the new one will take a little time. MY Cardologist said this one has so many bells & whistles it takes a while to adjust to different people & their bodies.
Take care & keep in touch.
Settings

The basic settings are the same across the Medtronic pacers at least from what I have looked at. The fancier ones just have additional features that allow them to handle more situations. So they should be able to transfer the settings used in the Kappa to the Adapta since they were working fine. Additional features could be added if at some point you need them.
I recently talked to my cardiologist about options for replacement likely in a year or so. I let him know that I want the replacement to be set initially to the same settings I have on my Kappa 701. We spent a lot of time getting these right and I don't want to start over. He seems in agreement, but we will go over it again at replacement time.

Adapta & Active
by Thrasher722 - 2009-09-15 06:09:52
I just had the Adapta pacemaker put in. I am a very active person and was running 3.5 miles at least 4 times each week. I just had the pacemaker put in (my first) and cannot do anything active yet. My Cardiologist chose this one because I have extreme fainting (about once a year) that causes my to heart stop.
My pacemaker is set up to only be used when my heart starts to get irregular and/or slow heart rates that can lead to a faint. The Adapta will not do anything as long my heart can handle its own heart rate. I am trying to find the same answer.
After everything has healed up will I be able to exercise at the same level I was previously before I had the pacemaker installed?

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
Adapta

Hello!
I also have an Adapta pacemaker. I have not been able to be very active since a little before my implant, so I probably won't be much help in that area.
I have had to have mine adjusted several times. For a while, things seemed to be working perfectly, but then my heart started acting up again, so it has been a real struggle to get my settings perfected.
May I ask why you have a pacemaker?
I initially had mine implanted for syncope, but later on, I needed an ablation of my sinus node, which left me pacemaker dependant. I have had more trouble getting the pacer adjusted since I became dependant on it.
Hope they get you tuned up real soon!!!
