Hello, my name is Joseph and I just received a Medtronic Adapta PM. Surgery went well and I am in recovery room now. There is some pain that meds can help. I do not know what to expect in the coming weeks in reference to exercise but I am hopeful a will be close to normal.
I needed a PM due to a 2/1 HR during exercise. I waited before getting my PM. It progressed to 2/1 during resting state in a 6 month time period. Hoping to get back to normal life and exercise in the near future. Will keep posting on progress. Thanks

You'll have to keep the elbow of the arm on the side where the PM was inserted at or below shoulder level for at least a month. No living over a gallon of milk except under emergency conditions.
They should give you instructions before you leave hospital. Also show you how to put on over-the-head clothing.
Minimal exercise for a month. Mild exercise until 90 days. If you don't do minimal exercise the shoulder will get stiff and the wound will heal "tight". Every time I started using my left arm they'd start screaming at me. Consequently my wound healed "tight" and my shoulder got stiff. So I have to do extra stretching before my rehab exercise to minimize pain in the area.
Check around this site. There are a lot of members with PM's doing a lot of things. I think the few things that are out are sky diving, scuba diving, free form rock climbing, tackle football, big league pitching, tackle football, and extreme weight lifting. But I wasn't doing any of those things so I won't miss them anyway.
Be patient for 90 days, then get on with the rest of your life.

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didnt slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
welcome to wired!
