Hi, I have a boston scientific pacer for bradycardia, got it in Sept. 2013. Things have been fine till lately. My arm has been hurting me quite a bit, now I know that it may have nothing to do with the pacer but another strange thing is going on. I shop a lot, but one as I go thru the doors of the stores the security alarm goes off. Could this be a loose lead? What is going on?thanks for Any input you may have.

I agree with TraceyE. You'll want to get checked as to why you're having arm pain. That isn't normal, especially if you haven't had any changes in your daily routine.
I'm thinking they may have turned up the sensitivity on the store security systems. Over the Christmas shopping season my wife was setting off all sort of alarms because of her purse and all the stuff she had in it. After the Christmas season she's been able to go into the same stores with no problems. The PM should have nothing to do with the alarms.
I've been seeing a licensed massage therapist for my pain. The therapist has been able to find some sore spots and work them out. The final two spots, if you can believe it, have been where the leads go into my vein under the collar bone, and where the leads go into my heart. She's been working on my back in those areas so she doesn't massage the lead area directly but working on the sore muscles really helps.
Hope things get better for you.

I do have an appt. with my cardio doc in a week. I am glad to hear that the pacer is not setting off alarms. I have also been thinking about getting some massages but I will wait till after my doc appt. holding my breath that all will go well.

I have a Boston Scientific, If I don't walk right in the middle of the door at Herbergers, Boston Store, or Macys their alarms go off. I just keep on walking, After the 3rd time it happened I don't even look around, Probably The PM telling me I shop to much Good luck Jean

Whenever something changes, it's important to be seen.
If a lead was loose, it would stop pacing and you'd feel like you did before. Losing a lead has nothing to do with the security alarm, the metal inside you hasn't changed. Have you checked your purse, things like that? I set them off every once in a while, maybe a hand full of times in the last ten years. Over Christmas I suddenly was setting them off all over the place. I still don't know what it was, but it was all department stores in the same mall and it hasn't happened again since. Odds are it's something else if it's a sudden change.
Nothing about the pm should make your arm hurt after so long. Hurt, how? Any swelling or red spots that could be a clot? Have you slept differently, done anything new?
