our new cat

hi we have a new member of our family. he is male . he is two years old. he is a scottish fold and he is a beautiful orange stripe with matching orange eyes. his brother lives accross the street. his first breed came about in scotland in the early 60's since then they are a very popular cat to adopt. he is passive gentle.he takes time to blend in but when he does he is yours forever. he is very very affectionate. ours is named buford. he already had the name . my brother remembered the movie in texas with buford pusser in it. lol he reminded me. so take care folks and once again you may not know what i am even talking about and if so that is okay with me jess

Hi Jessie

I am a retired vet nurse ( in Australia) and I have had the opportunity to live with 2 scottish fold cats over my time nursing! Both were dilute ginger and had gorgeous orange eyes. I have found that this particular breed of cat do not enjoy being "up" off the ground. Both of my cats (Royal and Karl) loved to be petted but not up on my knees. They were never on our bench tops either!
This breed of cat are bred with a "straight eared" breed such as the British Blue - hence the beautiful eyes.
You can't breed a fold with a fold and only some of the littler will fold. They truely are a facinating breed.
Good luck with Buford! You will have many happy years ahead!

Kind regards,
Helen

So, you are now a pet parent.

What a difference it will make in your life, to be greeted by the cutest little face ever, following you around wanting attention.
I have a cat too, his name is Max, all black with green eyes. Like Bambi's, he is not of any particular breed, he is a rescued kitty, but I love him just the same.
Happy times with Buford.

Congratulations Jess on your new family member. I bet he will love you to death as he will know he was rehomed. Our cocker spaniel was on a notice at Woolworths. Same story - new baby couldn't cope with the dog. She adores us and is so spoilt. We have never looked for a pet they have alway found us. It is great to share the news of all members of this site. It makes us one happy family supporting each other through the good and bad times. The worries and the laughs. We should all share our news whatever it is, it brings us all closer to each other. And, after reading Helen's comment I have learnt a lot. There is so much we can all contribute. Have a lovely day everyone. Billie

Good morning, Jessie - glad to hear Burford's now a member of your family - remember we were talking of him in the chat room a couple of days ago. I'm sure he'll be a wonderful companion. Do let's know how he progresses. He'll be going to visit his brother over the street which will be nice for them both! Hope you're feeling well today. Love, Wannabe

Hey Jessie,
A warm welcome to your new addition! As the proud [crazy] owner of 5 cats myself, I know what pleasure they can bring! Mine are all "mutts" rescued from various perils and abandonment, lol, but I too would love to see a picture of a Scottish Fold! He sounds beautiful! Good luck with Buford! Great name!
