upper limit further question

My EP says we can try to increase my PM upper limit from 150 to 165 next time I get checked out but it depends on my AV interval and a few other settings. Any idea what that means?

Think of it as a budget,

If you spend more on gas, you have less to spend on food.

You can increase the upper limit, but it constrains the maximum possible AV Delay allowed and the PVARP,

So if you need a long AV Delay (it takes a while for you to conduct from A to V), they may consider not increasing it.

If you have a long retrograde and are susceptible to symptomatic PMT and need a long PVARP, they may consider not increasing it.

That's the few examples I can think off the top of my head anyway.

My AV delay was originally set at 400msec. They couldn't increase my upper pacing limit beyond 150 with that delay but were able to increase it to 160 after reducing the AV delay to 300msec. Pre-pacemaker I had a prolonged PR interval that ranged from 300+ to 400+ so I suppose I'll be pacing the ventricles more now.
