I had my pacemaker installed in 2006 in France when I was living abroad.
Have just had my check and my usage of the bottom part not sure what called has risen from 7% to 14% - not sure why. My extra beats were recorded as 3000 for 6 months and I have three years battery left.
I have bouts of extrasystoles, missed beats it feels. Why would my recording go up double? I have done nothing different.
I am having checks on my stomach as I am having problems could that cause the extra beats?
Hope someone can help
Jules

If the bottom is pacing, that means that sometimes the atria beats but the signal doesn't get through to the ventricles, av block. The pm is always watching. Every time the atria beats, the pm is programmed to give the ventricles a set amount of time- a fraction of a second- to beat on its own before the pm steps in and causes a beat. If they adjusted that delay, it can make you pace more. Or sometimes the heart gradually spends more time in block so it paces more. Either way, it's nothing to worry about. As long as you feel good, it doesn't matter how often you use the pm, it's there on demand which means it kicks in when you need it.
Extra beats happen. Most of the population has them, but because they don't have a cool little computer recording everything, they never know about it. Some people feel them, many do not. I feel them every once in a while but I know from my reports that, like you, I get thousands of them.
Excellent battery life!
