I have had a icd (pacemaker and defibulator)for eight years and I have had the battery changed 3 times and this last time I had lead revision done which included lead abandonment rather then lead replacement. My doctor said lead replacement was too dangerous. Has anyone had this done (lead abandonment)? Has it had to be done more then once? I have this constant thumping in my chest, is this normal?HELP!

Many of us have non-working leads left in, either because there was room for another lead without extracting what is there or because it was too dangerous to remove the existing lead. I have one that was capped off and abandoned, put the new one in the same vein. You shouldn't feel the old one. They turn it off and put a cap on it, it just sits there.
