Surgery Scheduled

I have 3rd degree AV Node block and have since birth. I have been feeling run down lately and starting to feel odd when I am in physical exercise situations. I posted in December requesting opinions on the decision to get a pacemaker now...before it became an emergency situation and the decisions are taken out of my hands.

I have scheduled my procedure for March 10th to receive a 2 lead Medtronics device. I have been reading many posts here in preparing myself on what to expect. Thanks to all of you for your postings to help those like me looking for experienced information.

Also, thanks to TraceyE, Theknotguy, and Jonny for their initial response in helping me confirm my initial decision in December.

Where should the V-lead be placed?

Please consider with your doctor how to get natural ventricular activation, no matter what, for a healthy outcome. Google PacemakerPatientAdvocacy.com

Good luck

Good luck! Am amazed that you have 3rd degree AV Block & have not required intervention until this time.
I acquired same condition & 24 hours PM implanted,

acquired is totally different from congenital. It's still very rare to make it well into adulthood without the pm, but our bodies have always been this way so we are able to compensate somewhat.

I have a total av block my pm was placed on feb 20. I had a set back because my doctor pierced the upper top of my lung with the needle that was guiding the wires to my heart. He said that I fell in to the one percent category. I was really upset. Today I feel great. I feel that my heart is new. I hope that everything goes well for you, take care and rest easy

I just scheduled mine too

I'm scheduled for 4/25. I am almost 32 with a 3rd degree heart block. I'm hoping I we feel as good as most people say we will. Please keep me posted. I wish you well.

I had 2nd degree av block 2 to 1 and was feeling ok with a 32 bpm. I called my doctor and he told me to come in immediately. He put me in the hospital that minute and within an hour I was talking to a heart doctor who had me transferred and I had my pm by the next afternoon. I feel good and my feet are warm for the first time this winter. The surgery was 3 days ago and I'm starting to bruise a little so just came on here to see if that's normal and I see it is.

You know you're wired when...

Your ICD has a better memory than you.
