My 83-year-old DH is progressing

February 3 marks one month since my dear husband's PM implantation. To all of you who have helped us by answering a lot of questions I am very grateful. It has been a very scary journey over the past 4 weeks with a lot of complications for him. I will not take the time to enumerate here but one or two of you have shared private messages of encouragement and that has been invaluable to us. Today has been his best day so far--the first day he has had on clothing other than his robe and PJ's. His DVT in the left arm is slowly subsiding, his fever has gone away, his blood pressure is normal, his incision site has healed very nicely, and his appetite is improving. He has always had a beautiful smile, and I am seeing that smile more often now. We have our first encounter with the pacer clinic on Wednesday of this week, and we are excited to start to learn about the settings. He has one period a day (usually from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) when he gets out of breath more. We are just wondering if that is a thing they can account for on his settings. (We are totally ignorant as to how this is done.) Maybe it is because he is usually bathing, brushing teeth or shaving at this time. We have a lot to learn around the PM and how it works.

I am just so thankful that he is finally doing well. I left him alone for about an hour today while I grocery shopped--a much needed restocking of essentials. He did well and probably enjoyed the time not being supervised constantly.

Again thanks to all for the help this site has been. It is just wonderful to know that help and encouragement is just a click away. I shall always treasure your friendliness and willingness to share as well as the vast amount of knowledge that you have imparted to me.
Anna R.

I just to wish you and your husband all the very best especially for his continual improvement.

You are correct, this is such a useful site and I have found it very useful for myself in that its practical information plus the encouragement given has helped me to cope.

Kind regards

Make sure to get a copy of the interrogation report. You don't need to know everything on it right away and probably won't remember details from the check anyway, but having the report will allow you to ask questions here.

The PM has a clock in it and when they look at your data they can tell at what time any events occur. So going in with a log of any times he notices anything unusual can be very helpful.

Let us know how it goes
